Biography for Kelli H. Smith

Kelli is a native of Baton Rouge, LA, has been married for over six years and with her husband for over eleven years.  She started her helper journey in high school, when she began mentoring teens and later expanded her outreach through several community service projects with the Greater Hollywood Baptist Church, Southern University Psychology Club, Psi Chi, and the Boys and Girls Club.  In May of 2006, Kelli graduated from Southern University with honors and received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

In 2009, Kelli returned to Southern University to work with the Full Time Fathers Program. The program has afforded her the opportunity to work with a diverse population by teaching parenting and life skills, providing case management services, and assisting with job placement efforts for low-income non-custodial fathers in and around East Baton Rouge parish.  Kelli was also instrumental in carrying out the re-entry program for the Full Time Fathers Program in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Currently, Kelli is near completion of her Master of Education in Counselor Education with a specialization in Martial, Couple, and Family counseling.  Kelli works with individuals and families dealing with mental health, communication, self-esteem, and social issues.  Kelli plans to specialize in Christian counseling and continue working with families in the greater Baton Rouge area.  Her goal is to become a licensed professional counselor and work toward building a successful counseling center and provide relationship building workshops.
